PCT Day 43: Mount Whitney (14,505 feet)

June 14th, 2018

Today instead of hiking the PCT we took a side trail up Mount Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states. We left camp set up and only brought fanny packs and water bottles along for the hike. Hiking packless was great. There was a lot of snow still, but the trail was almost completely clear. We saw marmots, coyotes, and deer. We brought a shot of vodka each and had it at the top. The view was amazing. We made it down in time to go to bed well before sunset.
